Meanwhile In Red Bank NJ: Smugness-Abounds…

Meanwhile in Red Bank NJ, smugness-abounds from a faction who have put back the cause of progressive politics and community involvement in the town for years…
Climate has waited for the last three years at least in RB
Clearly this poster hasn’t sat in council meetings and seen their questions about climate change preparedness policies, municipal electric vehicles purchasing, utilities, etc., being pooh-poohed by the very sect this poster installed

Vision Zero or Zero Vision?

Year-on-year in 2026 New Jersey traffic deaths have fallen by over 7%.

Unfortunately pedestrian and cyclists’ deaths have actually risen and now constitute over a third of all deaths on NJ roads:

10/30/2026: 444 dead in 300 days on New Jersey roads in 2026, including 137peds + 13cyclists
Each victim killed either in or being hit by a car, bus or truck

Total fatalities have fallen by 35 year-on-year
Bikeped deaths have risen to over a third of the state’s total

Early Morning – Bushfire Smoke: Red Bank NJ, July 18, 2026

Smoke from bush-fires far to the north has settled over NJ/NYC over the past several days threatening the health and well-being of those of us living under its yellow cloud.

Red Bank NJ: 7:30am looking east

These levels of toxicity are often apparent in our town if not as visible. We really need to get local pollution under control.

There seems to be a reluctance to act on this at every level. This town can’t even confront, let alone control, its own congestion and poison…

Behind the curtain in the Land of Oz, Part II – Tactical Withdrawal…

Red Bank NJ: Thursday’s Zoning Board meeting saw apartment developers, Incredible OZ, withdraw their application to build 14 units on a derelict single-family plot on the congested and polluted Shrewsbury Avenue corridor.

AIslop view of one block of the proposed units to the
usual standard of Red Bank “architecture”…

The developers were seeking extensive variances from the town’s code and there were also several business and commercial code variations and deletions which needed to be addressed.

Of course, no one, not even the board, could acknowledge the recent public – well, on Facebook anyway – debate on the rate and quality of development in the town. Nevertheless staunch Ready! Faithfuls – and realtors – on the board continued to express their support.

Whilst many on the board failed to catch the pervading community zeitgeist, at least Incredible OZ seemed to realise the issue.

redbankgreen’s report quoted the developers lawyer as saying they’d be back with a  “better product,”.  It will be fascinating to see what they mean by that.
